Hi experienced and knowledgable ones,

I am working as a postpartum doula for a mother with 5 week old twins.
Nursing is going fine. In the days following their birth, mom came down
with a major case of the hives. They chalked it up to a reaction to one of
the meds used during the birth, put her on steroids and zyrtec - things
resolved in about a week. The other morning she came down at 4am (I work
overnights) covered in hives again. She also started loosing hair so she's
wondering if it's hormonal. I'm at a loss here. She is very uncomfortable,
and has worked so hard to have a great milk supply that she is very afraid
of zyrtec or the like. Any ideas on a potential cause or treatment that
won't hurt her milk supply??

Thanks!
Angela
