Hi - I was wondering about omega-3 supplementation. I've searched the archives and Hale, but can't find a definitive answer about how much is too much for a breastfeeding mother. I have recently seen two moms whose midwives prescribed 4000 mg of fish oil and, other than advising them to read labels carefully to avoid heavy metal toxicity, I was unable to discern if this dose would be dangerous for the nursing baby. Any thoughts? Both babies were about a month old and, although one baby was described as "colicky", his mom had been taking fish oil since his birth (only recent fussiness).
