Does anyone have any theories on why the JAMA HIV study by Miotti indicates a
higher transmission rate through bf in the early months, where the August
1999 Lancet study by A. Coutsoudis et al finds none in the first three months
(as did the French study reported in Lancet last year)? Did their
definitions of breastfeeding differ, or perhaps was there a different,
(more/less accurate) HIV test used?

Inquiring minds would really like to know.
Thanks,
