The patients in our residents' ob clinic are often ones that need more than
usual counseling on contraception.  Most of the time, milk supply is not a
problem with milk supply, but there is that occasional mother...  Whenever
possible, I ask the residents to avoid giving Depo until the 6 week
postpartum visit.  In spite of the stereotype we give to many of these
mothers, when they realize that breastfeeding is part of their contraceptive
regimen, they are conscientious about keeping it up fully at least until they
