Dear Friends:
The question has been raised about the cut-off syringe used to evert a
nipple? "Isn't it just like the product that does the same thing?"
No, they are not the same.
The product designed to evert the nipple has FDA approval, and a flexible
silicone (?) cup that goes over the nipple area. It has been proven to do
what it does without harming the mother.
The cut-off syringe is not FDA approved for that use, and has been known
to abrade tissue in a few cases.
    Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI
