<<Also, have you seen the ads to buy "bovine colostrum, nature's milracle
for your family's health." I can't help but feel sorry for the poor
calves.>>

Yeah, what about that stuff?! I just was reading an ad for it in a vitamin &
supplement catalogue I get - lactoferrin (from whey) with colostrum
(bovine)& lysozyme (from whey). It doesn't say what it's good for or what
it's supposed to do for you. In the little list of what it *doesn't* contain
(i.e. yeast, corn, sugar, etc) is included "animal derivatives".

Now, speaking as a vegetarian, I wonder how they get bovine colostrum and
don't define it as an animal derivative. And speaking as an RN/LC, I wonder
what earthly good cow colostrum is supposed to do us people-types? Does
lactoferrin that is necessary/functional in humans come from whey?

Anybody up on this? I find it quite puzzling - especially as (thanks to our
FDA) the companies can't tell us what these products are supposed to do for
you, under what circumstances you'd benefit from them, etc. (Not that I'd be
going for cow colostrum, under circumstances I can imagine!)
