Should we go back to telling people to sterilize bottles and nipples,
including parents who give expressed breast milk by bottle? Any ideas on this?

my understanding on the way adult caregivers colonize babies' mouths w/ strep
mutans is from their mouth to the baby's. when we were going to dr. kevin
hale (quoted in mothering mag in several dental concern/bfing articles recently)
he explained that adults pass this on to children (with teeth - there must
be teeth for it to flourish) through allowing them to eat and drink after the
adult, kissing, sucking off a paci to clean it, giving the child food right
from the adult's mouth, etc... i'm not sure sterilizing bottles and pacis would
do much to eliminate the risks.
