Let's not forget Ebola and the other hemmorgaic (sp?) fevers as well as
Rabies :)
Dear Colleagues:
I didn't know that breastfeeding transmitted these viruses. Rabies?
I am aware that Ebola and Marberg and other supernasty bugs are airborne, so
a mother should be holding or kissing her baby. But rabies?
This is what the CDC says about rabies:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Q: If a pregnant or breastfeeding woman is receiving rabies PEP, can the
vaccine or human rabies immune globulin harm her unborn or nursing child?
A: Rabies vaccine is not known to cause birth defects or harm to unborn
children. It is safe to continue breastfeeding during your treatment.
