  I disagree Rachel.

Breastfeeding does a world of good in ameliorating the effects of
poverty
which is the root cause of high infant mortality in most of the world...
A root cause of high infant mortality in wealthier nations is
prematurity,
and prematurity poses special problems for breastfeeding.

So whether one is speaking of wealthier nations or poorer nations
breastfeeding and infant mortality have a relationship...

If you want to chided me for going off on a tangent-
explaining why some cultures and some people would not see artificial
contraception as a solution for high infant mortality,
and why some cultures and some people see a relationship between
artificial contraception and artificial feeding,
points I made in the hopes of fostering tolerance and understanding
-you may,
but I think it is misplaced to find fault with a general discussion
of high infant mortality in this forum...
