Jeanette,

What a wonderful response! We all need more parental policies that we can
use in the face of the immoveable (?) hospital/doctor policies. I hark back
to the days of the late 60's when I did my pediatric rotation, and all the
parents were required to leave their children on the pediatric ward at 8:00
pm. No exceptions. No one at that hospital at that time questioned it (as
far as I know). As you can well imagine, I hated the afternoon shift,
because 8:00 was a nightmare for the nurses to get the babies/children
settled and down to sleep. It would have been so much easier for all of us
if the parents had stayed. I"m sure there was a policy against it, and I was
a teenage student nurse - what did I know?

Somedays I'm glad it isn't the 50s.
