Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that the WBW Kit from ILCA will be
printed very shortly.

Breastfeeding: Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies is the slogan selected for
World Breastfeeding Week 2002, intended to highlight the urgent need to
protect, promote and support the health and well-being of mothers, as well as
the need to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding for healthier babies
and children.

The Goals for World Breastfeeding Week 2002 are:
    To reinstate breastfeeding as an integral part of women's reproductive
cycle and health
    To create awareness of women's right to humane and non-invasive birthing
practices
    To promote the Global Initiative for Mother Support for Breastfeeding
(GIMS) as one way to strengthen the support of breastfeeding.

As you begin plans for implementing this concept and slogan locally, you may
want to consider these questions:

    What is happening locally to support or hinder women from initiating and
sustaining breastfeeding?
    Are there mechanisms in place to provide health care services for women
before, during, and after pregnancy? If not what can I do to raise awareness
of the need for these services?
    Are the physicians in my area familiar with the statements and position
papers from various medical associations (e.g. American Academy of
Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians) and health organizations
(e.g. World Health Organization)?

The ILCA WBW Kit will be shipping on or after the first week in July.  You
