A 25 year old in her 6th month of pregnancy called to ask if she could
breastfeed while on 80mg of Methadone. She has been maintained at this level
since her third month. The MD feels that she may need a stronger dose as her
hormones are triggering some withdrawl symptoms, she feels that she can
tolerate the symptoms that she has been experiencing. The woman said that in
some chat room she had heard that it was safe to nurse while taking as much
as 200mg. Thoughts on this, anyone?
