I saw this mother and thought the baby was clicking and coming unlatched
due to a fast flow. That is not the case the baby does this clicking
and looses the latch without totally coming off the breast. (also does
the same thing with a bottle of breastmilk, and on an empty breast) The
baby also humps the tongue up in the back, and has a shallow latch.

I suggested to mom to try to let the baby suck on her finger and slowly
walk her finger back the tongue to get the baby to accept more of the
finger in her mouth. The baby gags every time she tries to do this and
she needs to stop. I also suggested bottle feeding with a nipple that
has a very wide base instead of what she is currently using - worst
nipple on the market. Her nipples are so sore that she can only handle
feeding the baby 2 times per day at breast the rest of the time she
pumps and bottle feeds. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to
how to fix this problem. It does no help to do the dancer hold and
support chin with a little bit of pressure. She is willing to try
anything to get the baby to be totally at the breast. Thank you for
your help.
