Not exactly the same thing, but with my first baby I had a fissure that took
6 weeks of exclusive pumping as well as 6 weeks of oral antibiotics and
fluconazole in order to heal.  The dermatologist I saw strongly suspected
that the steroid cream I had been using (prescribed by my OB along with
anti-fungals) had made my skin very thin and had led to poor wound healing.

Just in the last week I have found that my skin has started to become very
thin and has split open in a few places -- I'm not using steroids on it, but
my toddler is!  He's on inhaled steroids and we've become lax about cleaning
his mouth/brushing his teeth right afterwards so I think he's transmitting
it to my nipple when he nurses for comfort right after having to do his
treatments.  Who knew???
