I'm behind on reading my posts, but wanted to share how
using breastmilk helped heal my grandson's 2nd degree
burns. I had posted asking for information about using
breastmilk for burns about 3-4 weeks ago when my 2 yo
grandson received burns from boiling water on his back
and arm. Of the replies I received, there was no one
who had any documented information about using
breastmilk. His pedi was agreeable to using breastmilk
and allowing it to dry thoroughly before applying the
"silver stuff" (can't remember the full name) to the
burned area. He suffered the burns on a Thursday
afternoon and by the following Tuesday was not needing
anymore dressings and the area was looking great.
There was only new pink skin and it did not bother him
at all! I'm sure the breastmilk (which my daughter in
law got from a friend) made a vast difference for
healing so quickly and cleanly. Hopefully, he will not
even have any scarring. From this purely personal
experience I believe the breastmilk made his recovery
much quicker.
