I'd ask a couple questions:  Does this 'blocked duct' actually get smaller
when mom expresses?  If not, I'd be thinking more along the lines of
possible abscess.  It shouldn't take a week or more to get rid of one.red
and hard bothers me.usually plugs that my clients deal with are not red and
hard - they hurt and are firm lumps, but aren't red.  We see red with
mastitis and abscess.She needs the ultrasound to rule out an abscess, imo/
