Ann,

I would share the risks of soy with the owner. The British Dietetic
Association has taken a formal stand against the use of soy formulas. If you
do a Pub Med search, there are some good studies about the hazards. A 2004
Cochrane review, "Soy formula for prevention of allergy and food intolerance
in infants," by Osborn, found, "Feeding with a soy formula should not be
recommended for the prevention of allergy or food intolerance in infants at
high risk of allergy or food intolerance." Soy formula is linked to thyroid
dysfunction. It's not innocuous.

It drives me nuts that drs. take infants off human milk and give them soy,
never updating their knowledge on the research. But that's a battle for
another day:-)
