HELLP is a complex syndrome. However, the mechanism by which breastfeeding
is affected relates to the tremendous blood loss which usually accompanies
the dangerously low platelet count. This may result in Shehan's syndrome. I
believe I heard that pitocin short-term might be helpful in establishing a
milk supply which probably has been reduced due to pituitary insult. I'm not
sure how soon after delivery this would need to happen. Can some of the docs
help us out here? Bonnie Jones
