Thanks Jean Cotterman for continuing to educate us about RPS. As I had read some of the posts about oxytocin spray I wondered if RPS might help but couldn't remember if it set off the oxytocin stimulation or just had the direct effect on the myoepithelial cells. So it does both- and might be useful in later lactation.
Lactnet is such a great way to learn- thanks to all the people who post questions and answers.
Shortly after I learned about RPS I had a call from a MW with a mom who was engorged. I didn't really want to do a phone description of it, not having tried it hands on- but it sounded really appropriate so gave it a go. I could hear the mom in the background, excited "The milk's coming out!". It really helped her out and I've had moms use it with success since then. Thanks again,
Mary Taylor, LLLL, new IBCLC
