Cyclopentolate is an ophthalmic mydriatic/cycloplegic. There is no
breastfeeding data available. It is only used in the eyes, but systemic
absorption occurs. Systemic side-effects are rare. It is an
anti-cholinergic. Increased susceptibility to cyclopentolate and greater
potential for systemic side effects have been reported in infants, young
children, children with blond or blue eyes, adults and children with Down's
syndrome, children with brain damage or spastic paralysis, and the elderly.

Since breastfeeding mothers are most probably not included in any of the
above categories, since cyclopentolate would probably be degraded in the
breastfed infant's GIT (it is only used as an ophthalmic), and since
systemic side effects in the breastfeeding mother would be rare, it appears
that its use by a breastfeeding mother should have no effect on her
breastfed child.
