Esther,
You're an experienced LC and so am I.
If I came across a situation which really worried me, of course I would
share it with the doctor, as you did.
If the doctor did not think it was a problem, but yet it still seemed
unusual to me, coupled with the fact the baby
is not bf well, here is what I would do. I would say something to the
parents like, "this little tremor is kind of unusual, and so I think
it bears watching." (that is usually my catchphrase to parents -- "it bears
watching.")
I would give them some direction, like if the baby does not feed better over
the next few days, if the baby becomes lethargic
or listless, seems to have high or low muscle tone, (etc) then I would
contact the baby's doctor right away. I would also try not to get them
too fearful by saying "sometimes baby's need a day or two to get organized,
especially if they've had a bit of a hard time getting born"
letting them know that often the baby does improve over the first few days,
which I do see often, in my experience. Particularly with bruised
up babies.
It goes without saying you will continue to give her bf support and
followup.
