Just attended the Wolf and Glass presentation on feeding and swallowing
disorders in infancy.  Assuming my ears were working (not always good
assumption) and my fingers correctly recorded the info, they stated the
pattern is inspiration - swallow - expiration.  By breathing out immediately
following a swallow the infant clears any milk that might be close to
airway.  This is why you hear that kuh following a swallow.
