I am a peer counselor with WIC, and also am on WIC. I agree with sherri
about the year but I have also heard rumor that we are trying to change
it? I am intreted to find out if this is true? But also my experience
with most moms is that they are not capable of fully breast feeding, how
can I help these mothers? Most are finacially strapped, single, so they
can not afford to not work, but yet not enough money to get pumps. Also
these moms usually are young don't have an education so they have to
work at places that are not baby friendly?? any ideas? Also some mothers
are in the cracks where they can get WIC but no other aid so I agree
with the longer time to collect the benifits, the number that continues
past the first couple of months is verry small like Jill said. So I dont
think it is that much of a difference, they give the child food at that
time, why not add a little more? I am a tax payer, & wish that mothers
(all mothers) could get after birth help with all the needs including
some one coming to the house to check & help if needed.

PEACE & LOVE,
Catherine Keenan

P.S. Kathleen thank you for the smile preperation to parenthood had me
rolling on the floor. I needed that after todays adventure.
