Deanna,
I have seen only one case of true breastmilk jaundice in my practice. This
baby's bilirubin level was about 6 for many months. It dropped slightly when
mom took a 12 hour break from bf, and maintained at about 4 until he was past
a year old. He had tests to rule out medical problems that might cause an
elevated bilirubin, all were negative. He thrived on his mother's milk,
despite the mildly elevated bilirubin.
