Well, I have to share the good stuff also...
We have quintuplets staying with us where I work (mother-baby rest home)!
They were born 31 weeks, 1.300 kilo each and the mother is giving them all
mother's milk!
She began by pumping, now she nurses 3 each feed, and 2 get bottles. But
about two feeds a day she had enough for all of them! She gets about 450cc
per feed. They all breastfeed beautifully, and are gaining weight
wonderfully. She is so confident and in control. Her one problem was when
she asked my advice the other day because she said every feed that the two
get a bottle they hate the neosure and spit most of it up. After mother's
milk, there is no spit up, everyone happy and content. What could she do?
How I wished she could give all five every feed EBM! It is so great to see
her!
Typical formula company, they wrote up in a kid's family magazine about
the quintuplets- and they wrote how nice it is that Materna was donating
all their formula. I was fuming- of course they did not mention she is
breastfeeding them all....
Anyway, thought you would enjoy this wonderful story.
Warmly,
Jessica Billowitz, IBCLC
