Paula,
I have a very interesting article on hand entitled "Father's Milk"-- Discover
Magazine, 1995, p.83. The article first discusses physiological issues on how
men could lactate, then mentions that "one observer noted 500 cases among
survivors of one Japanese POW camp alone. The most likely explanation is that
starvation inhibits not only the glands that produce hormones, but also the
liver, which destroys those hormones.........."
