It is important that everyone understands that it is not just scrupulous cleaning that prevents UTIs.

Babies in diapers, whether cloth or paper, sometimes sit in poopy diapers for a while.  Depending on their particular anatomy and susceptibility, even two minutes might be too long.

And parents are not the only one changing babies -- there are nurses, babysitters and other care-givers, as well as  well-intentioned friends and family.

 A far worse scenario occured for a friend of mine.  When her little girl appeared at the hospital with her third UTI in six months (she was under two), social services and CPS got involved questioning whether this was a situation involving molestation.  If you knew this family, you would know how absurd the accusation was, and how horrible.
