I kind of like the idea of telling mothers that if they want to increase 
their milk supply they should optimize the conditions in which they 
live. I'm not sure how many of the environmental factors I could boast 
of controlling -- I was frequently hot or cold, chased by toddlers and 
was hungry enough to eat another pasture -- but I did have the good 
fortune of taking my emotional attitude seriously and having someone by 
my side who would optimize normal conditions by preparing food, telling 
me things would be better tomorrow, etc. I *know* intellectually that 
stress doesn't put one's milk supply in serious danger, but I did find 
it helpful to tell myself things would go better if I could let 
expectations, plans, control etc. slide.
