The current hype for reducing SIDS is to place babies on their backs when
they sleep. Ruth Wilson reported that there is an increase in the incidence
of someting called "skull flattening" which she suggests might be related to
placing babies on their backs and causing this problem.

Has anybody noticed that the studies that illustrate the connection between
position and SIDS come out of Scandinavia. Hey guys- what is the incidence
of breastfeeding in the Scandinavian countries? I think it is somewhere up
in the upper 90%s. Maybe it wasn't the fact that the babies in the studies
slept on their backs that was significant. How about the fact that most if
not all of the babies in the studies were probably breastfed?

There is a comedy show here with a feature called "the great 'duhs' in
history". Well, I for one think this qualifies- Duh!!

Just had another thought here- I wonder if there is a greater incidence in
fused skull sutures in babies born by cesarean? (BYW did you guy know that
the terms "c-section", and "section" are not politically correct and are
insulting to those of us who have birthed that way? A little conciousness
raising here- hope you don't mind)
