Hi all,

It isn't just doctors who can be unsupportive of breastfeeding. Nurses,
technicians and pharmacists are undertrained when it comes to
management.

I have worked with wonderful docs and I have also heard so many
breastfeeding horror stories from my patients about their doctors, it
makes my hair stand on end. In my humble opinion, the sign of a good
doctor is a willingness to come down from the medical throne and learn.

"I don't know much about this. Can you give me some information?"
"Can I borrow your Journal of Human Lactation?"
"I am willing to work with you on this."

I am always delighted when I hear things like this and will go out of my
way to help. I also say to the doc: "I would love to work together.
Teach me about such and such and I can teach you about bf in return."

A little good will goes a long way.
