I had the Medela rep here this past month. And, I went to their Canadian
head office last year. At both times, they did not understand why people,
lactivists, don't like their company (mentioned Dr. Newman by name and said
they were SHOCKED he would not come for a tour). I won't go into the other
issues I am having with head office. Very unprofessional of me ;-)

Our rep. and I got into a discussion (which I terminated when I felt I was
talking into a brick wall) about Medela and the WHO code. She told me that
Medela does not advertise 'feeding bottles' or nipples, on their website.
While true that on the Canadian site, they don't have the CALMA listed, and
their bottes are said to be 'storage bottles (no nipple), it is the bigger
picture of the company people take issue with. She asked how people could
be against a company that just wants to help moms to breastfeed. She said
'other' countries advertise nipples, that they are distinct entities, not
allowed to sell to anyone in a different country, for they will loose their
distributorship. I stopped talking and let it go. Can't talk to someone
who isn't listening.
