I heard Suzanne Haynes speak about the campaign at a meeting in Boston
a couple of weeks ago. She is a recent convert to the cause, dedicated,
but this is one part of a much larger job that she does. Several of us
asked questions that I think made her squirm a bit. I'm not sure if she
wasn't aware that people knew as much as they did about the undermining
of the campaign or whether it was something else.
My sense is that letters of support and thanks for their efforts and
emphasizing the importance of a strong campaign and addressing the
guilt issue head on would be a good thing. We and they are on the same
side, but I think that we are more suspicious of the commercial
interests undermining this effort from our experience in this business
for so many years.
If anyone else who was at that meeting has other reactions, please
share them with us. Also, there was another talk later in the day about
the campaign as well, given by someone else. Unfortunately, I had to
leave before that talk. I (and I imagine others on lactnet) would love
to hear about that talk as well.
