Hi June,

I too have had quite a few issues seeing large breasts and non latching
babies. I have also worked with a personal friend whose cup size
reached L by the time she delivered (yes, that is right, the L that
comes after K!).

I have to confess I used to be quite anti nipple shields until I learnt
to use them properly and judiciously and which brands are more effective
than others.

In my humble opinion, if the baby is not latching easily, use an
underarm hold (mum can see more), have the baby placed directly under
the breast , use an asymmetrical latch, vacumn on a nipple shield (like
a tupperware lid) and away you go!

Once the baby is bigger and has stronger muscle tone, they can latch
in a more conventional manner and probably wean off the nipple shields.
