Thank you, Karleen. The good thing about links to online materials is that
this can be accessed in other regions with disasters, too.  I put a link to
Queensland disaster preparedness in the LCANZ December newsletter.  The
important message is, of course, to keep breastfeeding, and increase
breastfeeding.  I notice in the section in the QH online info for mothers
who are not breastfeeding, that there is a picture of a baby self-feeding
with a bottle. There is a milky fluid on the baby's face, which shouldn't
happen with effective bottle-feeding.

The information on what else to pack for the baby and for the household is
useful, especially for people who haven't experienced disasters before.
Another tip I learnt from a mother is: when the electricity is off and the
battery on the mobile telephone is running low, is to recharge it from the
car battery.
