In the Pediatric Notes, dated March 18, 1999, Dr. Sydney Gellis makes this
statement in his commentary about the study from Denmark on smoking during
pregnancy and later criminal behaviour in the offspring of that pregnancy.
After noting that alcohol intake was not considered in the variables, he
says "In the meantime, I can see no harmin quoting the study to help
convince pregnant women that cigarette smoking may result in sons who will
be criminals".

I am fascinated. This is the same Sydney Gellis, who, by the way, is
generally very supportive of breastfeeding who mentioned in response to a
study showing an increase incidence of lymphoma in children not breastfed,
the old chestnut "about not making mothers feel guilty for not
breastfeeding".
