This meta-analysis of studies found that there was little different in blood
pressure between infants who were breastfed and those who were bottlefed.
However, in reading through I found it difficult to determine how they
defined "exclusive breastfeeding" and what length of time the babies were
exclusively breastfed. They did mention that in one study the breastfed
babies were partially bottlefed, and the bottlefed babies were partially
breastfed. Since some of the studies they reviewed dated back to the 1970's,
I find it hard to imagine that they had large numbers of babies who were fed
nothing but breastmilk for at least six months, with gradual introduction of
solid foods. They did mention at one point that "prolonged breastfeeding"
may be more protective but I'm not sure what they meant by prolonged.
Probably what I would consider normal.
