I've never seen anything like the number of calls for infant formula via the
media in any emergency like I saw after the earthquake in Haiti (for those
who don't know I do media monitoring for the IFE Core Group). It was
astounding- mostly individuals, churches and small orgs involved. I think
that the situation regards IFE is seriously complicated by the number of
children in orphanages (most of whom are not orphans).

Subject: Haiti earthquake anniversary, calls for infant formula donations on
the rise?

I think we will see an increase in calls for infant formula donations as
news outlets cover the anniversary of the earthquake.

Here are two examples, one from Jan 5, 2011, one from this morning. Both
call for donations of powered infant formula.
