I used the planetfeedback.com website to send my letter GH, here is what I sent. I plan to try and place a call to them as well.

    RE: PLANETFEEDBACK REFERENCE NUMBER 2114367

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to an article that appeared on page 69 of your Jan 2004 issue. The article is titled "Risky pill for nursing moms"

First I would like to state that I am the owner of the website mentioned, www.breastfeedingonline.com, and that I was never consulted about the article you published. Teh article is full of incorrect information. This is a disservice to the readers.

The AAP certianly does approve drugs for use by breastfeeding moms,Their document "The transfer of drugs and other chemicals into human milk" Pediatrics 2001 which can be located on line at :
http://www.aap.org/policy/0063.html , disucsses many drugs including domperidone, nicotine and many others.

In the book "Medications and Mothers's Milk" Tenth Edition by Thomas Hale Phd on page 230-231 it is clearly referenced that the APP does approve Domperidone for use in breasfeeding moms.

I have consulted with Dr. Jack Newman, author of the article on my web page about Domperidone just today and he states "It is legal for doctors in the United States to write a prescription for this drug and for a compounding pharmacy to fill it."
http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/jackbio.shtml

Information on compounding pharmacies can be found here
http://www.iacprx.org/about_compounding/index.html

I have been an avid reader and long time subscriber to Good Housekeeping and I am appaled that you would publish such an article so full of obvioulsy unreasearched information.

Breastfeeding has many, many health benefits for mom and baby that carry throughout their entire lives. The US does not value breastfeeding as other countries do because they feel that formula is ok too, but if it is researched one will find a multitude of risks associated with it.

Here's what I'd like Good Housekeeping Magazine to do about this: Write and publish a retraction article on Domperidone that is well researched and based on fact not fiction.
Write an article about breastfeeding that is true and factual. I would be happy to assist with it in anyway I can.

I hope someone can get back to me soon. I enjoy reading, and it really upsets me when something like this takes the pleasure out of one of my favorite pastimes.

Sincerely,
Cindy Curtis
