As I posted before, my relative is in the hospital. She is doing very
poorly after her surgery, very low blood pressure, very dehydrated,
unable to keep even water down, 6 days post-op still no passing of gas
or bm, we are all quite worried. Today they gave her a drug to get her
stomach moving. No one could remember the name so I went to the nurse's
station to ask. They said it was Reglan. I asked them to spell it.
They did. I am tired, worked all day, now it's 10pm, and I thought I
was mishearing. So I asked "you mean the drug that increases milk
production in lactating women?" The nurses looked at me as though I was
crazy. After they spelled it again, I thought I was right, but they
laughed at me so I left, figuring I would check it out later...

I'm in the cafeteria getting some food and there is a LD nurse. I asked
what kind of lactation services the hospital provided. She said they
were lucky, they had a LC come in two mornings a week. I said, "well, I
guess this hospital isn't trying to become baby friendly." She had NO
idea what baby friend was.

I just double checked, and sure nuff, reglan is used both for lactation
and also for intestinal issues as well.

I'm not real pleased with this hospital, or the doc... I wish I could
stay there 24/'7.... or that others in my family were more pro-active.

Joylyn
