"We estimate that current BFg rates result in 4,981 excess cases of breast
cancer, 53,847 cases of hypertension, and 13,946 cases of myocardial
infarction compared with a cohort of 1.88 million U.S. women who optimally
breastfed."

Holy Smokes. this comes from the awesome new article out, and it will be a
game changer: "Cost Analysis of Maternal Disease Associated with Suboptimal
Breastfeeding." It complements a similar cost analysis Bartick et al. did
in 2010 for infant health outcomes.

I am standing and clapping for Melissa
Bartick<https://www.facebook.com/melissa.bartick?directed_target_id=0>
and
the rest of the research team (Alison Stuebe, Eleanor Bimla Schwarz,
Christine Luongo, Arnold Reinhold and the late E. Michael Foster).
