I have just returned from 6 days out of town (Vermont, New Hampshire
USA and Montreal Quebec Canada with two 17 yr old girls) and without
computer access. Just caught up on lactnet and will return to work
tomorrow. Good to be home.
I know several (I believe 3) former IBCLCs in different, busy hospital
practices who transitioned to breast health. This would be examining
breasts for breast cancer, teaching breast self exam, assisting with
biopsies, fitting for prostheses after mastectomy and the like. All of
these LCs had completed their childbearing years and had older
children (not necessarily adult children), in other words they were
getting older.
I am 55 now, and I do wonder or sense (or am I just imagining) the
pregnant and lactating mothers respond better to the younger LCs???
