Phytolacca is one of many homeopathic remedies recommended for mastitis in
HOMEOPATHY FOR PREGNANCY, BIRTH, AND YOUR BABY'S FIRST YEAR by Miranda
Castro, 1993, St.Martin's Press, NY.

Phytolacca, more commonly known as Poke weed is the remedy that is specific
for sore, cracked nipples where pain radiates from the nipple all over the
body.

Symptoms are inflamed, lumpy breasts. Abcesses. Cracked sore nipples. Pain
while nursing. Unlike the quick action of other homeopathic remedies, it can
take 12-24 hours to act.

Four other remedies are mentioned for mastitis. It is important to remember
that with homeopathy, diagnosis is based on the whole picture and not just
on symptoms, thus many rememdies to treat one ailment.
