I'm working with a mom outside of the U.S., with limited access to support. She has been battling mastitis for 14 days. On day 13 she began antibiotics. Day, 14, her OB drained what appeared to be a pus-filled nodule on her breast, but it was filled with milk. Breast is red, tight and painful. No fever. Any suggestions other than the standard protocols for mastitis? I've suggested hand expression in addition to the poor quality pump she has and the massage she's been doing to try to relieve the blockage.
