I registered to take the course Liz mentioned,
http://www.breastfeedingtraining.org/
"This Breastfeeding Training Course will provide health professionals with
detailed information regarding the theory and practice of lactation
management."

Sorry, I would NOT recommend it. I took two of the courses, one on
positioning and latch, and one on maintenance. Here are my comments:

Latch and Positioning:
2. Photo shows hand on back of baby's head, and a symmetrical, shallow latch
3. Ditto for pics of cross cradle and football holds
The cradle hold had VERY shallow altch - baby's nose buried in breast and
chin not touching
4. And guess what, the text on this page SAYS "Avoid pushing on infant’s
head. Support infant firmly behind shoulders and back."

Maintenance:
2. In the photo, - shallow symmetrical latch, mother leaning over baby
3: There is no indication of the minimum # of wets and poops to expect in
the first week
6. Hand expression pics - fingers are clearly pushing towards nipple
8. Weaning - no info on natural weaning
9. Contraception methods does not mention that IUDs may contain hormones,
and that progesterone-only pills often lower milk production.
11. Smoking - does not mention that if mothers smoke, they should do so
after nursing, and NOT sleep in same bed as baby

Very disappointing :(
