I never dreamed I would come to the point where I say this, but I
have decided it isn't worth fighting some battles anymore. I am at a
point where I have to choose between "wimping down" what I say or
quitting. Unfortunately, in our present financial situation,
quitting isn't a viable option. My husband was forced into early
retirement a few years ago. In order to try to save enough of his
retirement funds for us to live on for however long we live, I have
been the sole source of paying for daily bills and providing health
insurence. I am not Medicare eligible until next June and there is
no way I could afford health insurance at the price I would have to
pay for the next six months if I quit today.
Therefore, I will only give information that parents specifically
ask for and will not give any suggestions that what they plan to do
ahead of time may not be the best choice for their baby. It seems
so unfair that when a patient accuses me of saying something that is
absolutely NOT what I said, I have no right to face my accuser or
even to apologize for saying whatever I said in a way that they took
differently than what I had intended. The patient is always right
and it is always the staff person who is wrong. It is never that
the patient misuinderstood, it is always that the staff person
didn't say it "right".
This will be very hard on my conscience, but there is no other
option for me at this point. I am not sure if I will be able to
continue with Lactnet as I know the great info and suggestions here
will only add to my pain in having to make this decision. I want to
thank all of you for your support and good words over the years.
Keep up the good work. I know that eventually things will get
better, but not soon enough to help with my dillema.

Winnie
