There are valid questions about whether or not all tongue ties should be
treated.
As I see it the real problem is in nomenclature - how we define a tie.

Sometimes a frenum is just a frenum. If it is not causing any restrictions
or concerns, either with feeding or other normal functions, then there is
no need to do anything about it. On the other hand, if it IS impeding
normal functions then it makes sense to treat it, and in THAT case we would
call it a tie.

A frenum is a frenum.
A tie is a frenum which is impeding normal functioning.
It is all about function, not form.
