I read a blog post recently about a mother's feelings when asked to sign a permit for not exclusively bfing in hospital. What reactions to permits do you all see? These feelings/reactions seem to be intense, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it used to be easy to say 'I want to breastfeed,' then supplement quietly anyway, and with permits there is conscious recognition of the descision? Is it like a guard at the refrigerator of a person on a diet? Do most hospitals use 1 permit, then supplement as much as desired, or permits with each bottle? One for each bottle would raise the consciousness level, I would think, but it might be more stressful. As permits become more common, are there more unhappy parents?
Judy
