To answer Kathy D's questions:
ILCA is putting on regional conferences.  There will be a two day
regional conference in October in Tarrytown, NY.  Last winter they had a
regional conference in California, which several lactnetters spoke at.
I think the reason for the Sydney conference is that Australia has many
IBCLCs and they are not all able to take the grueling, expensive flight
to the US, though some faithfully do, year after year.
