Marla,
These are great questions, and I hope others will provide collective wisdom and evidence. I also suggest the purchase of “Best Practices for Expressing, Storing and Handling Human Milk in hospitals, homes and child care settings.” It is published by HMBANA<https://www.hmbana.org/our-work/publications.html> and the 2019 edition has just been released. This book is a wealth of evidence based information - anything you wand to know about expressing, storing and handling human milk.

Begin forwarded message:
When cleaning pump kits for NICU babies are you having mother's boil pump pieces? or micro steam ? or anything else other than washing ? Do you have mothers store pieces in plastic containers after washing and drying? Do you recommend air drying or towel drying?
Do you use anything for mother's to collect colostrum in initially (when there is very little expressed) ?
When mother's with new babies that are with them need to hand express are you recommending to drip colostrum directly into baby's mouth or collect in spoon and then feed to baby ? What is the rational of what you do ?
Thank you so much for your input.
Marla
