I've searched the archives on this one, but can't find anything less
than a year old. A mother in an online forum I frequent has contracted
Lyme disease and is being advised by "experts" in the Lyme disease field
that Lyme disease passes through breastmilk and could infect her child.
It was my understanding that this is not the case; that even if it is
present in milk, it doesn't mean that the baby can get it. She's now
conflicted on whether to wean her nursing toddler because of the
"experts" saying that she shouldn't breastfeed, passing on anecdotal
cases on nurslings who've gotten the disease "through their mother's
milk" even though the mainstream medical sources she's using say it's
fine. Is there something definitive that she can see, to ease her mind?
